Whilst some events are being postponed, we can rely on Awareness Days to give us some consistency and it’s time to get even more creative and maybe even appreciate them a little more than normal after the year we’ve all had. Where you might not have showcased, for example, mental health or other illnesses, it’s become more acceptable to be open and supportive of these to spread awareness.
Below are some great days to consider coming up over the next few months. There really are so many awareness days, so do a little research yourself too as you will find others that are relevant to your business, or maybe even touch a cord personally, which can be sharable still. Don’t forget to check their relevance out to make sure they work for the UK, if there is a theme for this year and any special hashtags you need to use to make the most of joining in. A great site for research is AwarenessDays.com.
So why should you add them into your calendar? Historically this has been done for that hashtag and the opportunity to be seen by a wider audience. Ideally, you want your clients to like and maybe share your post to help increase your reach and importantly, to show some personality and values you hold dear that will resonate with your audience. Having liked that post, they are more likely to see your next post too so you can balance content to show more of your product or service in the next post.
It’s not all about social media either. Think a little more laterally and see how else you can integrate these dates into your overall marketing plan. If you have a physical shop or mail order business can you work these into? What about your email list? Could the random act of kindness be reserved for these opportunities?
Our top tip is not to fill your feed just with these awareness days, and Stories are a great place to include them to get a reaction from your audience.
